1st August.salaam.,
to whoever reads my blog.the lesser the better.yes, truthfully.but its rather contradicting, aint it?.hurhur.
the stress and pressure of the last mth of the first semester have subside. Finished all the assignments. to be honest, i did give it my all. but then again. did i?hmm..
Holidays are here. i'm so looking forward to it. but then again, i'm not. had a performance at esplanade last week,nope..its at the library.hurhur. nothing big. turned out unexpectedly great, though the lack of practice that me,azlan and lester had. its sorta like a DMAT acoustic mini-concert, where all my coursemates havta perform. and i'm the emcee. sheesh. and i suck. seriously. i didnt volunteered. and i had no experience. so it all summed up to bad emcee-ing. anw, at least i made some lame jokes, that the crowd could laugh to.hurhur.
i'll upload pictures soon.
highlight of the day was the talk i had with Abang Wazir earlier in the day. he was also a musician, full of passion in what he do. i was mixing my song, when he came in. he stared at me for a minute, sat right beside me and asked me a very random question.
"so reyza, whats your inspiration when it comes to songwriting?" and i answered,
"i listen to songs, and i get inspired by how the song goes. either that or my own experiences in life.'
and then he asked,' so who's a songwirter you really idolised?', theres too much to mention, so i just replied, 'M. Nasir'
and then he said, ' i used to jam with him and his brother in the past.' he continued on his story.
and here's what Abang Wazir told me in a brief summary.
M.Nasir wasn't born to a musically-inclined family. His father was an Ustaz, his mother was an Ustazah. Both his parents are very religious. so he grew up in a religious family, he learnt music by himself, guitar and singing. he has no formal lessons. his siblings too, had no formal lessons. they were self-taught. His way of songwriting, a pencil,an eraser, a paper and a guitar. but how did he get this successful? it all comes from his inspiration. His inspiration, is a book. not merely any book. but the Holy Book of Quran. he reads every morning. and he gets ideas from there. Those hit songs that top the charts all stem from these ideas. and that ideas and this good habit, earned his place as one of the most, if not, the most respected Malay songwriter in South-East Asia today. He explained that, in life..you'll get to learn very few things because you just getta live for less than a hundred years. And that you'll never know which path is really right, or wrong or which one is the best. He says, reading the Quran is like owning a torchlight to shine when you're in darkness. you'll learn which path to take. M. Nasir's songs are based on the stories and morals learnt in the Quran. He made it a habit to instill morals in his songs. This habit of his became the catalyst of his success.
16th AugustWonderful huh. The Quran. God's Speech assembled in a book. Not just any book. A book that explains what life is about. A book that shows us the right path to follow. The path to success in both Dunia and Akhirat.
A book that many people these days have mistakenly overlooked. I'm guilty of it myself. Too busy with life and school. i know, its a stupid excuse. so thank God its the holidays. and finally, i can put school aside, for what is my main responsibility as a Muslim. Syaaban's commenced. Ramadhan's beckoning. I cant wait. i AM excited. cause its a test i'm looking forward to.
23rd Augustmy 2nd bro just got married a few days ago. and fingers are pointing at me now. when's my turn and all that. sheesh.i didnt answer to that at all.the only thing i hav in mind is, only me and my lil sis left.besides my father, i'm the only man left. Responsibility's on me to take care of my mum and my sis.all i can do is pray for the best.
had one of those dreams again. shall not explain it here. thank you.
clue: The past. That gerl.
wassalaam,
